About The Isles

The dream to own a Celtic shop began over 20 years ago when owner Terry Fegan was studying Celtic history at San Francisco State University and performing Irish Ballads in and around the Bay area.

The seeds of that dream were planted through her New York Irish immigrant background and marching in the St. Patrick’s day parade so that her family could not only celebrate their history and heritage but visit with all the fellow expatriates from Wexford once a year.

When Terry and her husband Mike, who was born and raised in Coventry, England, moved to Reno, their family and careers kept them busy and although Terry continued to perform occasionally in Reno they had to put her dream on hold.

The Isles is the fulfillment of that dream.  It is our hope that it will provide a center for the Celtic community as well as the American community to reconnect with or experience for the first time the wonderful products from Ireland and the British Isles.

The products that are offered are not all shamrocks and leprechauns.  We have made a special effort to ensure that we are providing the best of what is being produced by the talented artists and artisans from the UK and Ireland today.

We have the foods (mostly candies, of course) that are so dearly missed by all the expats (like Mike) and jewelry and multiple varied items that exemplify the brilliant new artistry which accentuates all that is beautiful and intriguing in Celtic history and folklore. We carry the most current and most popular collection of Celtic music CD’s and books that cover all things Celtic from history to cookbooks.

We have provided a reading room and wireless internet service so that those who might want to learn about Celtic history, literature and the arts can do so in a comfortable environment.

We would like The Isles to be a center for all things Celtic in Northern Nevada by offering tours through C.I.E. travel and providing information and items necessary to have a true Celtic Wedding.

We believe that anyone who comes to The Isles will find something fascinating, beautiful or entertaining that they will want to make their own. 

It is our commitment to make this a warm and hospitable shop that you will want to come back to again and again.
